National social scheme is sponsored by the Government which aims to instil a feeling of social concern among students for the community and people. NSS trains students to develop sensitivity towards society’s issues and be a responsible and responsive citizen. NSS work also gives platform to students to develop leadership skills.
The N.S.S. Unit of Smt. P.N Doshi Women’s college Ghatkopar has been active since 1974. NSS unit enrol students from both degree and Junior college. During their two-year tenure in NSS any NSS volunteers has to complete 120 hours of service in a year. The college NSS unit has 6 program officers 4 from Senior and 2 from junior college. NSS generally enrol 300 plus students from senior and 100 students from junior college. NSS volunteers conducts regular activities on various social issues. We have adopted Poi Village kalyan taluka for three years and every year NSS unit organizes special camp at the adopted village. Throughout the year NSS unit organizes awareness drives, health check-up camps, blood donation camp, rallies, street plays, tree plantation, intercollegiate quiz and other competitions etc. Our NSS volunteers also participate in state and national level camps organized by NSS University Unit.
Our institution has been actively engaged in extension activities in the nearby localities railway and bus stations.
In the year 2019-20 one of our NSS volunteer Ms. Pratiksha Adam received best state level NSS volunteer award from Maharashtra Government.
