NSS unit of the college organized following activities:

The NSS Cell of our College organized a celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025 in the college foyer. The event aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

A tree plantation drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was conducted in collaboration with BMC Ghatkopar on June 26, 2025. 100 trees were planted by students in honor of their mothers.

Observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War on July 26, 2025. The program began with a documentary screening on the Kargil War, helping students understand the courage and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces. This was followed by a candlelight tribute where students lit candles in silence to honor the martyrs.

A special session was arranged to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, spread awareness about the SERS (Swachhata, Environment, and Road Safety) campaign, and promote the Har Ghar Tiranga movement on August 14, 2025.

An AIDS Awareness Session was organized on August 23, 2025 by the Tata Group. The resource persons highlighted the importance of awareness and preventive measures regarding HIV/AIDS. They explained the causes, modes of transmission, myths and misconceptions, and also discussed preventive steps and available treatments. To make the session engaging, a quiz on AIDS awareness was conducted, in which participants actively took part.

A blood donation drive was successfully conducted on September 26, 2025 in collaboration with Sir J. J. Hospital. A total of 18 bottles of blood were collected during the drive. The event witnessed active participation from student volunteers and staff, reflecting the spirit of social responsibility and community service.

Distribution of 90 dozen notebooks (totaling 1,080 notebooks) to underprivileged students at a nominal rate was done in collaboration with Gunje Gujarati on June 21, 2025 ensuring affordability and accessibility to basic educational resources.

Celebrated World Paper Bag Day to spread awareness about the harmful effects of plastic and to promote the use of paper bags on July 12, 2025. NSS volunteers gifted paper bag to the people in the college they like the most.

25 NSS volunteers actively participated in the peace march on the occasion of Hiroshima Day on August 6, 2025. The march was organised by Sarvodaya Mandal, starting from Hutatma Chowk, Mumbai holding placards and raising slogans advocating for a world free of war and violence.

A cybersecurity awareness session was organized on August 23, 2025. The session was conducted by Mr. Shrey Panchamia, who holds 4 years of professional experience in the cybersecurity domain. He spoke about the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world.

A Zero Waste Management Session was organized on September 25, 2025 in collaboration with Project India. The speaker, Mr. Aditya Samant, from Project Mumbai, emphasized the urgent need to adopt sustainable practices and reduce waste at the source. He explained the concept of zero waste, waste segregation, recycling, composting, and the importance of minimizing single-use plastics.

As a part of Daan Utsav (Joy of Giving Week), organized the activity “Ek Muthhi Anaj” on October 4, 2025. Under this initiative, around 70 kg of food grains were collected through the generous contributions of students and staff members. The collected grains were distributed among underprivileged girl children from a local school to support their nutritional needs and spread the message of sharing and compassion.

‘University Level Leadership Camp’ organized by SNDT Women’s University Mumbai, at Nere, Panvel from August 24 to 26 2023. Ms. Sakshi Sathe has been awarded with the ‘Helping Leader Award’.

‘Peace Rally’ organized by Bramhakumari on the occasion of Tapotsav – Tapasvi Jevan ki Rajat Jayanti, Ghatkopar on January 28, 2024

‘Yuva Samvad Competition’- Zonal Level organized by MMP Shah College, Matunga, Mumbai on August 04, 2023 and three volunteers were selected for University Level Yuva Samvad.

‘One Day Peer Training Workshop’ on Red Ribbon Club organized by MDACS on August 08, 2023.

Beach cleaning Drive at Girgaon under the Abhiyaan – ‘स्वच्छता ही सेवा’ on September 30, 2023.

Jagrutva 2024, an intercollegiate Fest on the theme HIV/AIDS organized by NSS unit of Vivekanand Education Society College, Mumbai on February 09, 15 and 16, 2024.

NSS volunteers participated in a rally organized by Bramhakumari, Ghatkopar on March 03, 2023.

Other Special Activities:

Under ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, pledge was taken by the NSS Programme Officers and volunteers on August 11, 2023. Students created various clay articles with zeal and enthusiasm.

NSS Week was celebrated from September 25 to 30, 2023. Following activities and sessions were conducted:

Day 1:

Session on ‘Cancer Awareness’ by Dr. Isha Sonawane in collaboration with ‘Lubrizol and Indian Cancer Society’ on September 25, 2023.

Day 3:

Session on ‘Prevalence of Gandhian Thoughts’ by Mr. Bajrang Sonawane on September 27, 2023.

Day 2:

Session on ‘Aids Awareness’ by Dr. Vinod Zalte on September 26, 2023.
‘Swachhata Pledge’ was taken by all the volunteers and Programme Officers on October 03, 2023

Ms. Maira Shaikh and Ms. Sakshi Sathe participated in ‘University level State Pre Republic- Day selection Camp’ – 2023 on September 15, 2023. They also participated in ‘State Level Pre NRD/SRD Selection Camp’ held at Punya Shlok Ahilyabai Holkar University, Solapur from September 26 – 30, 2023. Ms Maira Shaikh has been selected for ‘West Zone Pre NRD/SRD Selection Camp’ to be held at Vijaywada from October 31 to November 08, 2023. She was selected for State Republic day Parade

Annual Residential Camp was organized at Rohan Village, Kalyan from December 20 to 26, 2023. Along-with regular activities, roads were cleaned and side marking was done by our students.

Following activities were organized to create awareness on importance of voting

Celebrated National Voters Day and arranged a Session on ‘Importance and Significance of Voting in Today’s Age’ by Dr. Madhumita Bandhopadhyay on January 25, 2024.
Video screening on ‘How to Make a New voter ID card Online’ was held on April 15, 2024 for senior College students.
Posters were displayed on each floor on ‘the right to vote’ and how one vote is also important to elect Good leader for the Nation.
NSS volunteers along with NSS PO’s went to each classroom on April 15, 2024 and made them aware about actual voting procedure and shared helpline number as well as related website.
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self-reliant and sustainable village development. Our college was selected under the 16th List of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan in 2022 and has since been actively implementing community development initiatives in its five adopted villages—Ane, Ron (Rohan), Apti Tarf Barhe, Dahivli, and Adivali—located in Kalyan Tehsil, Thane District, Maharashtra. All activities are planned and executed in alignment with the objectives of UBA, focusing on rural development, sustainability, community participation, and student sensitization.
