Ensuring Good Nutrition for Seniors at Home:

As a country, we are currently benefiting from a demographic dividend, yet the elderly population is also growing. The shift towards nuclear families, coupled with increasingly hectic lifestyles and a lack of comprehensive support systems, has heightened the vulnerability of seniors. A recent research project by our department underscored the need to develop a resource for caregivers, equipping them with essential guidance on the fundamental yet critical aspects of senior nutrition care.

SNDT Women’s University in collaboration with Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit evam Yog Kendra (BHAGYASY) have undertaken the ambitious project “Nari Se Narayani: Rediscovering Indian Women Sages Intellectual Heritage” under the guidance of Hon. Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women’s University, As a part of Jagrani Lecture Series, Prof. Ujjwala Chakradeo addressed students from various colleges affiliated to SNDTWU. She shared her insightful remarks related to the project with all the First Year students from degree college on August 9, 2024 and elaborated the concepts of Narayani, Rishika and significance of the transformation of ‘Nari’ into ‘Narayani’ which is need of time. Students from FYBAMM, successfully completed ‘Narayani Mitra Residential Training Program at Pune Campus from September 28 to 30, 2024.

A workshop titled ‘The Art of Listening in Conflict Resolution’ organised by IQAC jointly with SNDT University Principals’ Forum in collaboration with Dr. B.M.N College of Home Science, Matunga, under RUSA Mentorship Program on September 25, 2024.
Department of Gujarati in collaboration with Asmita Gujarati Mulund, senior citizen forum, Ghatkopar formed ‘Gunje Gujarati' forum with the objective to Preserve Gujarati language and its culture. Inaugural session was conducted for the same on June 28, 2024 followed by 'Sambharana' Gujarati geeto ni prastuti and presentation of Folk literature by 'Gadhavi Nirmalsinh Zala'. More than 500 people from all over Mumbai attended this event.

An informative session titled “An Introduction to the World of Investments” was organised by Department of Accountancy in collaboration with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) March 12, 2025 on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Three students from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition were awarded prizes for their poster presentations at 'Dietcon 2025,' a Continuing Medical Education Programme hosted by the Central Railway’s Medical Department. The event took place at the CSMT auditorium on February 15th, 2025. Anamika Dhanajayan (FY FSN) won the 1st prize, Minaz Choudhary (SY FSN) secured the 2nd prize, and Sadiya Shaikh received the 3rd prize.

Departmental Social Responsibility (DSR) Project

The Developmental Social Responsibility (DSR) Project for the academic year 2025–2026 was initiated with the theme ‘Nurturing 21st Century Skills in Adolescents’ by post graduate department of human development. The sessions commenced on July 27, 2025 with the topic Critical Thinking for VIII Standard students of the Gujarati Medium School. It continued through August to October.
